This report provides an overview of the characteristics and activities of people who provide informal assistance to someone with a disability or long-term health condition, or to an older person (aged 60 years and over). Data includes carer status, age and sex, differences according to geographical location and the Index of Relative Disadvantage. It also provides information about reasons for taking on the caring role, time spent caring and social support and respite care.
