This report examines the geographic spread, age profile and social, health and economic wellbeing of carers in regional and remote Australia.  It considers the issues facing carers in these areas of Australia including difficulties in accessing services, the higher rates of disability for carers, the younger age of carers in remote areas and the impact of the drought. The demographic profile of carers and non-carers in drought-affected areas is discussed and data is sex-disaggregated. Characteristics of carers in rural areas compared to inner regional and metropolitan areas is also sex-disaggregated.
