The Victorian Burden of Disease study includes data for Victorian women that details their potential reduced healthy life expectancy (or death) due to iron deficiency anaemia. Data is reported by age group and includes; number of deaths, years of life lost (YLL), years lived with a disability (YLD), disability-adjusted life years (DALY) and incidence. This report provides a profile of heart disease among Australian women. Chapter 7 discusses the role of risk and protective factors for CVD and then describes nine modifiable factors of interest: blood pressure, blood cholesterol, body weight, physical activity, diet, smoking, alcohol consumption, and psychosocial measures. Data are presented to describe how many women are affected by these factors and what proportion of the burden of disease can be attributed to each factor.  Further Info

Population ageing and increasing prevalence of chronic disease have affected the capacity of the Australian workforce. This report complements previous work on chronic disease and participation in work (AIHW 2009) by describing the association between risk factors and both labour force participation and absenteeism for women. To facilitate comparison with the association found between chronic disease and labour force participation, the combined impact of risk factors (including inadequate fruit and vegetable consumption) and chronic disease status on women is also described.  Further Info
