The report contains information on the capacity of residential aged care homes, their residents and resident characteristics, levels of dependency among residents, and admissions and separations. It contains age and sex specific data for respite and permanent residents, together with information according to English-speaking status, Indigenous status, the length of stay and geographical location. The characteristics of residents are also recorded such as marital status, birth place, preferred language, usual housing status, prior living arrangements and levels of healthcare needs. This report contains comprehensive information relating to adoptions in Australia, including characteristics of adopted children, adoptive families and birth mothers. During 2010-11 there were 384 finalised adoptions across Australia-the lowest annual number on record. Of these adoptions: 56% were intercountry, 12% were local and 32% were 'known' child adoptions; 62% of adopted children were under 5 years of age; the majority of intercountry adoptees came from Asia (80%). The three most common countries of origin in Asia were China (24%), the Philippines (17%), and Taiwan (12%). Using three series of population projections, the number of Victorian households, family types and living arrangements (single mothers, women living alone, couple with children etc.) are projected through to 2031.  Projections indicate when the number of couples without children are predicted to outnumber couples with children and the rise in single parent households headed by Victorian women.  Further Info
