Using three series of population projections, the number of Victorian households, family types and living arrangements (single mothers, women living alone, couple with children etc.) are projected through to 2031.  Projections indicate when the number of couples without children are predicted to outnumber couples with children and the rise in single parent households headed by Victorian women.  Further Info

Victoria in Future 2008 contains the current population and household projections for the Victorian State Government for the period 2006 to 2056 for Victoria and 2006 to 2026 for Local Government Areas. It projects changing household formations based on fewer children and more lone person or couple households.  Further Info

The report contains information on the capacity of residential aged care homes, their residents and resident characteristics, levels of dependency among residents, and admissions and separations. It contains age and sex specific data for respite and permanent residents, together with information according to English-speaking status, Indigenous status, the length of stay and geographical location. The characteristics of residents are also recorded such as marital status, birth place, preferred language, usual housing status, prior living arrangements and levels of healthcare needs. The second ABS General Social Survey includes data for Victorian women who provide financial or other support for children and other family members living outside the household. Data includes type of financial support or unpaid assistance given and the person/group receiving the support.  Further Info
