Counting the Homeless 2006: Victoria

- Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (2008)

Details

Authors: Chris Chamberlain and David MacKenzie
This second Counting the Homeless report estimates the number of homeless people within Victoria by utilising data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2006 Census, the Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP) National Data Collection Agency at the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW), and the third National Census of Homeless School Students. Comparisons are made to the original 2001 Counting the Homeless data. The data identifies and reports on different types of 'homelessness' and data is included for the marginal residents of caravan parks. The report includes statistics for Australian women by age group and segment (type of accommodation), and includes some statistics at the Victorian person level. Data is available at the national level for personal income, labour force statistics and general social characteristics.
