This data includes the prevalence of self-reported long-term mental illness and very high self-reported psychological distress scores for Victorian women. The use of medication for mental health problems along with a greater breakdown of self-reported mental illness conditions is reported for Australian women in the National Health Survey: Summary of Results, 2007-08 (ABS cat. This report includes the prevalence of psychiatric disability by profound, severe, moderate and mild core ability limitations for Australian women. Data includes the age distribution of patients at general practice mental health-related encounters. Data also includes the number of mental health-related occasions/separations/incidents for emergency departments in public hospitals, mental health care services, admitted patients with specialised psychiatric care and residential mental health care. Some of these data areas include the percentage of mental health related incidents as a proportion of all episodes and the rate of mental health-related incidents per 1,000 population.  Further Info

This report describes the beyondblue project investigating healthcare for women with perinatal depression. The report includes statistics for Victorian women such as postnatal depression rates and prevalence rates. The Victorian project segment includes data for Victorian women showing the determined characteristics of at-risk and low-risk women including age, number of children, education, income and history of depression. It also includes data relating to what types of treatment was sought and from which health care providers. The Victorian Burden of Disease study includes data for Victorian women that details their potential reduced healthy life expectancy (or death) due to depression and other mental illnesses. Data is reported by age group and includes; number of deaths, years of life lost (YLL), years lived with a disability (YLD), disability-adjusted life years (DALY), incidence and prevalence.
