Mental Health Services in Australia 2007-08  provides a detailed picture of the national response to the mental health care needs of Australians. Details from a wide range of data sources for the 2007-08 period, and where available 2008-09, are presented, as are changes over time. Age-specific detailed information on mental disorder prevalence, expenditure and use of mental health services for women are presented.  Mental health-related data are also provided on emergency department occasions of service, pharmaceuticals and Medicare services for women.

This survey of young Australians aged 11-24 years of age contains information relating to what they value and their issues of concern. This data includes the prevalence of self-reported long-term mental illness and very high self-reported psychological distress scores for Victorian women. The use of medication for mental health problems along with a greater breakdown of self-reported mental illness conditions is reported for Australian women in the National Health Survey: Summary of Results, 2007-08 (ABS cat. This report describes the beyondblue project investigating healthcare for women with perinatal depression. The report includes statistics for Victorian women such as postnatal depression rates and prevalence rates. The Victorian project segment includes data for Victorian women showing the determined characteristics of at-risk and low-risk women including age, number of children, education, income and history of depression. It also includes data relating to what types of treatment was sought and from which health care providers.
